Beccles Free School: The Fight goes on

Despite massive local opposition and little local interest the DfE approved the Beccles Free School bid a few weeks ago. Since that time local campaigners have met and agreed to continue the fight under the Suffolk Coalition Opposing Free Schools banner.

As local County Councillor and Leader of Suffolk CC said parents need to “vote with their feet”. There is nothing we can do no to stop millions of pounds of public money being wasted on the crazy Beccles Free School proposal but local parents can make a massive difference by sending their children to the well respected Sir John Leman High School.

Not only will this mean that the free school is shown to be not needed or wanted BUT more importantly it will enable Sir John Leman Hign to continue to offer a great education AND improve this by getting better and better.

Campaigners will be leafleting in Beccles today with the message Beccles Free School A Risk Not Worth taking you can see the flyer below:

In addition representatives of Seckford have been summoned to appear before Waveney District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday 27th June at 6pm in Lowestoft Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public and questions and evidence can be submitted as the following statement from Waveney makes clear:
 A representative from the Seckford Foundation, the company behind the Free school will answer questions from the Committee and from members of the public.
